Decompression therapy is an alternative treatment designed to help relieve your nagging back, neck or referral (limb) pain such as sciatica. Clinical studies of decompression therapy are reporting that more than 70 percent of patients show a significant reduction in pain. A percentage reports the elimination of pain. Thousands of people across the country are enjoying the benefits of decompression therapy. We're eager to help you learn if you too are a candidate for this treatment method.

Decompression therapy is a safe and effective treatment for pain without the risks associated with surgery, anesthesia, injections or prescription medication. As you might imagine, decompression therapy is rapidly gaining popularity due to its exceptional results in treating chronic back and neck pain without surgery.

This method of treatment uses a table that is connected to a computer, to electronically distract and decompress your spinal structures. You rest on a table while a padded harness focuses the gentle force along the spine. This targets the discs and joints and stretches your spinal muscles - the 3 structures that produce most of your pain.

Before treatment begins, we evaluate you to see if you would qualify for decompression treatment. Your medical history and MRI and x rays are reviewed. If you are a candidate, an individual treatment plan is created for your specific needs. It is important to complete your treatment plan- even if you feel improvement early- to allow the full healing process. It is not uncommon to experience a significant reduction in pain early in our treatments.

The computer is programmed in accordance with your specific treatment plan and your session starts. Additionally you are in complete control and can shut down the treatment at any time if discomfort should occur.

During each session, you experience multiple cycles of distraction/relaxation, which may take 20-30 minutes. Each cycle is between 3 to 5 minutes. The equipment is designed to apply precisely- controlled tension along the axis of your spinal column, creating decompression of the discs. The process is fully automated and is monitored by the doctor. During the distraction cycle, you may feel some relief of pressure in the area where your pain exists. During this time, your body is responding by flooding the area with valuable oxygen, blood and nutrients which help promote the body's natural healing process.

Your treatment sessions are typically both comfortable and relaxing. At the end of your session, you're ready to head home.
